Migrating Calendar Syncing to Cirrus Insight

Migrating calendar syncing to Cirrus Insight can be a seamless experience if you follow our best practices. This knowledge base article provides information on how to prevent data duplication or loss while migrating to Cirrus Insight.

Disable 3rd Party Sync Services:

Before configuring Cirrus Insight, ensure that all 3rd party sync services are disabled, including OAuths in Salesforce. This will prevent any conflicts or data duplication issues during the migration.

Duplicate Detection Logic:

Cirrus Insight employs a robust duplicate detection logic to filter out events previously synced before the migration. Our logic matches events based on the composite key criteria of Summary, Start Date, and End Date.

Event Pairing and Syncing:

Once an event pairing is established between Salesforce and your email client, any future changes to the key criteria or invitees will be synced between systems. If multiple events with identical key criteria are found, the sync process will omit duplicate copies.

Outlook Users – One-Way Sync Configuration:

For Outlook users, we recommend setting up a one-way sync configuration from Outlook to Salesforce initially. This prevents any pre-existing Salesforce events from syncing back to your Outlook calendar. Once you no longer see Salesforce events previously captured by a prior sync, and if there is a need to enable Salesforce-to-Outlook syncs, you can safely start using bidirectional syncs.

By following these best practices, you can confidently migrate your calendar syncing to Cirrus Insight while avoiding data duplication or loss. As always, when you become a Cirrus Insight Customer, our team is available to guide you every step of the way, ensuring a smooth and worry-free migration experience.
